Overview

As of June 2025, a total of 338,373,159 domain names are registered across all tracked Top-Level Domains. This represents a year-over-year growth rate of 2.88%. The domain landscape is split between generic Top-Level Domains (gTLDs) with 239,010,053 registrations, and country-code TLDs (ccTLDs) accounting for 99,363,106 registrations. Both gTLDs and ccTLDs experienced a 2.88% and 2.87% year-over-year growth respectively.

Growth and Volume Leaders

Several gTLDs demonstrated substantial growth in June. .loan led with a year-over-year percentage increase of 1341.2%, reaching a total of 121,734 registrations. .xin followed with a 758% increase, totalling 104,085 registrations. .gdn saw a 577.9% increase to 85,627, .yachts increased by 551.7% to 85,332, and .boats grew by 413.8% to 85,372 registrations. .uno experienced a 198.9% year-over-year increase, reaching 61,351 registrations.

Looking at absolute gains, .top experienced the largest increase with 1,701,778 additional registrations, reaching a total of 4,913,390. .cn added 1,290,000 registrations, totalling 20,850,000. .xyz gained 1,123,510 registrations, reaching 5,250,463, while .shop added 479,593 registrations, reaching 3,732,930. .info grew by 461,938 registrations, reaching 4,330,747, and .vip added 427,755 registrations, reaching 1,470,737.

It is important to note the distinction between percentage and absolute growth; while some TLDs exhibit high percentage gains from a smaller base, others demonstrate significant expansion in overall volume.

Notable Declines

Several gTLDs experienced declines in registration numbers. .cfd saw the most significant decrease, with a year-over-year drop of 58.2%, resulting in 452,026 registrations. .tokyo decreased by 46.2% to 108,144 registrations. .bio declined by 34.8% to 53,017 registrations, while .monster fell by 29.4% to 52,978 registrations. .bond experienced a 21.2% decrease to 394,122, and .website declined by 15.7% to 286,017 registrations.

In terms of absolute losses, .cfd lost 629,486 registrations, .net lost 454,300, and .com lost 181,789 registrations. .nl lost 122,066 registrations, .de lost 111,390, and .bond lost 106,183 registrations.

Registrar Landscape

Across all registrars, a total of 191,837,382 domain names were managed. GoDaddy maintains the largest market share with 57,947,752 registrations, representing 30.2% of the total, although experiencing a 3.4% year-over-year decrease (-2,016,161 registrations). Namecheap demonstrated the largest year-over-year growth among major registrars, with a 12.3% increase (1,439,003 registrations) to 13,144,840 registrations. Tucows (Enom/OpenSRS/Ascio/Hover) holds a 6.6% share with 12,707,483 registrations, a decrease of 2.5% (-319,509 registrations). Squarespace / Google accounts for 5.3% of the market (10,088,443 registrations), with a 5.2% increase (496,201 registrations).

Market Activity

Domain name activity in June 2025 saw 7,158,648 creations, 10,597,416 renewals, and 5,842,281 deletions. Transfers totalled 565,013. This resulted in a net increase of 1,316,367 domain names.

Country-Code Movers and Milestones

Among ccTLDs, .ai experienced the most significant growth with a 69% year-over-year increase, reaching 598,007 registrations. .id grew by 36.2% to 1,261,732 registrations, and .us increased by 15.7% to 2,504,574. .nu decreased by 8.4% to 211,340 registrations, and .se decreased by 2.5% to 1,442,699 registrations.

No new TLDs were launched in June 2025. The .xyz TLD surpassed the 5,000,000 registration milestone, reaching a total of 5,250,463.
